Russia warned on Thursday that it would take countermeasures against any threats in the Baltic Sea especially after Finland and Sweden joining NATO. The spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova commented on Polish President Andrzej Duda"s announcement of turning the Baltic into an internal sea after Finland and Sweden joined the alliance. "We will take military and technological measures in the Baltic Sea in case of dangers to Russia," said Zakharova. The Russian official called for adhering to the geographical rights of Russia saying that the Baltic Sea is surrounded not only by the territories of NATO member countries, but also by Russia and it cannot be considered internal for the alliance. On June 5, NATO Ambassadors signed the Accession Protocols for Finland and Sweden at NATO Headquarters in Brussels in the presence of Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde. — Agencies
