The work of demolition of properties and removal of rubble in Kidwa area in Misfala neighborhood in Makkah will resume on Aug. 13, it was announced by the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites. “The phase of the evacuation of the properties targeted for the demolition and removal of the area has begun as part of the redevelopment plan of Kidwa. Accordingly, electricity and water and other utility services will be disconnected within a few days,” the commission said in a statement. The commission said that it will announce in the near future the venue where it will receive real estate owners affected by the demolition. Anyone who wants to get clarifications for their queries can contact through the e-mail kidwa@rcmc.gov.sa or over the unified phone number 920066600, the commission said. It is worth mentioning that the commission had announced earlier the date for the resumption of demolition of slums and removal of rubble in Kidwa. The plan is being implemented as part of the redevelopment of slum areas within the comprehensive strategy implemented by the Ministerial Committee to Develop Slums in Makkah under the urban development plan. Osama Zaitouni, spokesman of Makkah Mayoralty, said a few days ago that the removal of slums is underway in Al-Nakasa neighborhood while razing works will start soon in Al-Zohour neighborhood, in addition to Kidwa. The second phase of razing slums in Makkah’s Al-Nakasa neighborhood has been completed a few months ago.
