ABHA: The second edition of the Agricultural Extension Convoy, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, ended on Saturday in Abha. The three-day event was held under the patronage of Asir Gov. Prince Turki bin Talal among several government and community organizations. The convoy set out to increase the agricultural knowledge and skills of famers by changing behavioral orientations and implementing the best agricultural practices. The convoy also provided guidance to farmers and those interested in agriculture, demonstrating new techniques designed to suit each area’s environment. It also encouraged farmers to adopt the best practices for preventing and controlling agricultural pests. The experts gave guidance on the necessary skills to prevent pest outbreaks. They included a number of activities, seminars, presentations and workshops in many towns and cities in the Asir region. Famers, ranchers and beekeepers also engaged with the convoy, setting up stalls to display their products. There was also a mobile bee clinic that tested samples and delivered specialized workshops to provide the best services to beekeepers and those interested in beekeeping in the Kingdom. It also provided soil and water analysis services to farmers through a mobile agricultural laboratory. The lab also diagnosed some famers’ fungal plant diseases.
