Samaworld – Ahmed Bin Abdulqader · Golf Saudi and La Reserva Club combine to offer golf to a new audience of women and girls at the Aramco Team Series Sotogrande this weekend · 100 spaces available for beginners to try the sport for the first time · Ongoing tuition with the chance to compete in the Pro-Am when the Aramco Team Series returns to Sotogrande in 2023. Golf Saudi and La Reserva Club de Sotogrande are joining together at this week’s Aramco Team Series Sotogrande to offer 100 women and girls the opportunity to start a golf journey that could see them teeing up alongside the stars in 2023. In 2020 Golf Saudi launched its Ladies First Club, successfully introducing golf to women in Saudi Arabia and inspiring them to continue to play the sport. Now the initiative is going international at La Reserva Club Sotogrande where women will be given the chance to try golf for the first time. Kicking off on Friday August 19 and Saturday August 20 the Ladies First Club International will see coaches from Golf Saudi and La Reserva teach the basics for free to golfing beginners. The newcomers will receive expert tuition at the club’s superb practice facilities and then be invited to continue with golf by becoming part of a programme that will take them through to next summer. Participants wanting to join Ladies First Club International at La Reserva Club can sign up in person at the event. The long-term plan will offer at least one free lesson per month for participating women and girls until the Aramco Team Series Sotogrande returns to La Reserva Club in 2023. The aim at that point – subject to criteria – is for women from the programme to have the chance to play alongside stars of the Ladies European Tour in the tournament’s official pro-am. Individuals attending the free classes next week will also be offered hospitality and merchandise. Similarly, light refreshments will also be available during the programme, which is designed to help participants develop skills, meet with other female golfers and build friendships. Majed Al Sorour, the Deputy Chairman and CEO of Golf Saudi and Saudi Golf Federation, said: “It is exciting that we’re using the success of Golf Saudi’s Ladies First Club in Saudi Arabia to continue driving interest and participation in golf internationally. The central ambition of the initiative is for as many women as possible to take up golf and then continue to play the sport that has the potential to be life-enhancing in so many ways. Kicking off this initiative with La Reserva Club de Sotogrande and the Aramco Team Series is a great platform to raise awareness and inspire more newcomers to the sport – and win an amazing chance to play with the pros next year.” The Aramco Team Series Sotogrande is taking place from August 18-20, inclusively. The field is packed full of global stars, including Nelly and Jessica Korda, Anna Nordqvist, Carlota Ciganda and last year’s winner Alison Lee.
