The Architecture and Design Commission has invited architects and curators to participate in Venice Biennale 2023, the 18th International Architecture Exhibition. The invitation was announced at a press conference held in Riyadh on Wednesday by the commission"s CEO Dr. Sumayah Al-Sulaiman, where she clarified that commission’s participation during this year embodies Saudi Arabia’s culture via the Saudi National Pavilion. She stated that architecture arts are considered as one of the main pillars of Saudi culture. Al-Sulaiman added that commission’s participation will also support the local talented and competent architects in the architecture and design sector. This year’s Biennale version would seek for an architectural solutions based on the contemporary human social issues, she said. She noted that this would help the architectures especially because they always seek to look for new solutions and innovations that contribute to facilitating the lives of people. In this initiative, the Commission has been keen to open the doors to all the architects, researchers, and the specialists to get the opportunity in participating in this Biennale version to discover new talents in order to support them, and to offer them the best participation in addition to promoting equal chances. Al-Sulaiman has invited all architects, researchers, and specialists who are in Saudi Arabia to participate. It is noteworthy that the Kingdom has participated twice at the Venice Biennale in 2018 and 2021. This year"s version would be the third time for Saudi Arabia to be present through the Saudi National Pavilion. The architects, researchers, and specialists will have the opportunity to represent Saudi Arabia at the Saudi National Pavilion at the La Biennale di Venezia’s 18th International Architecture Exhibition, which will be under the name of "The Laboratory of The Future".
