The security authorities have arrested a man, who impersonated health practitioner without the required qualifications and a valid license and engaged in practicing through social media networks. An official source at the Public Prosecution stated that the man was found involved in posting video clips on social media, with a claim to treat patients, as well as misleading patients and those in need of treatment. The investigations carried out by the Public Prosecution’s wing resulted in the arrest of the person. It was found in the investigations that the accused created accounts through social media and posted misleading medical information. It was revealed that the man did not have either any academic qualifications in the medical specialty or any legal document from the competent Saudi authorities to perform health practices or provide medical opinion to patients. The source confirmed that the charges leveled against the man included publishing content on social media that includes his claim to provide treatment services, which is the work of a health practitioner, and that is without a license from the competent authority. He was also found violating the Law of Practicing Healthcare Professions and its executive regulations, and the laws against financial fraud, breach of trust and information crimes. The procedures of investigation are being carried before referring the accused to the court for trial, the source said while emphasizing that the Public Prosecution is keen on protecting the public health of the members of society. The Public Prosecution also warned that those who engage in such illegal practices will be held accountable for the crimes.
