The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has honored Saudi Arabia in a gesture of appreciation for the Kingdom’s efforts while heading the work team of ITU Council. Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority Eng. Majed Bin Muhammad Al-Mazyed, the Saudi representative at the council, was granted the gold medal. The honoring ceremony was held during the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2022, currently held in Bucharest, Romania. ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao said: “Today, we are honoring the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Eng. Majed Al-Mazyed who contributed to supporting the works of the union while heading the work team of the council concerned with international general policy issues related to the internet since its establishment in 2009"". The work team concerned with policy issues related to the internet is considered the most important work team of the council and witnesses intensified presence and remarkable interaction by several countries due to the nature of issues it considers, and for its being an international platform for governments to discuss general policy issues for the internet and prepare necessary decisions or recommendations.
