Egypt seeks increased cooperation with WHO to improve healthcare sector

Improving medical services to citizens has been a national priority under Egypt Vision 2030 CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed strengthening cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) to improve the country’s healthcare sector. The president met with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Cairo on the sidelines of the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean (RC69). According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency, improving medical services to citizens has been a national priority under Egypt Vision 2030. “Ending the waiting lists for critical surgeries and providing comprehensive health insurance for all citizens across Egypt are among the top priorities,” said the Egyptian presidency spokesperson. During the meeting, El-Sisi praised WHO’s efforts in addressing COVID-19 pandemic and providing access to vaccines. Ghebreyesus praised the Egyptian government’s initiatives to improve health services for citizens including campaigns to combat hepatitis and detect kidney diseases early, in addition to the efforts dedicated to women’s and children’s health.
