Cinemagoers in Saudi Arabia have witnessed a decrease in the prices of cinema tickets for the first time. The Kingdom was the second most expensive country in the prices of movie tickets after Switzerland, according to the statistics issued in 2021. Al-Ekhbariya interviewed several people at cinema theaters here in Saudi Arabia, and movie lovers in Saudi Arabia have confirmed that they have noticed a decrease in ticket prices. People stated that they were earlier paying between SR75 to SR80 per person to watch a movie, but now they are purchasing one ticket for SR50 to SR55, and it depends on the seat category. On World Cinema Day, people have been able to watch a movie for only SR20, which happened for the first time in the Kingdom. Al-Ekhbariya"s report stated that the reduction in prices resulted following the efforts and recommendations issued after recent studies on the possibility of decreasing ticket prices. Despite the pros resulting from decreasing the prices of movie tickets, the cons still remain in the prices of snacks, meals and water which are very expensive in cinema halls. Cinemagoers complained to Al-Ekhbariya about the high prices of food there. They noted that they are prevented from bringing any external food with them, with some revealing that they hide some snacks and beverages in unique ways because of the exaggerated prices.
