Saudi National Team defender Yassir Al-Shahrani, who was rescued from a horrific injury at the World Cup"s match against Argentina, has left the hospital on Wednesday following two successful surgeries. The Saudi National Team announced in a statement published on its Twitter account that the player has officially left the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh, which he entered last Wednesday after being flown off from Hamad Medical City, Doha for an emergency surgery. Al-Shahrani"s departure from the hospital to his home was decided by the medical team, after his health condition turned stable. The player will continue to undergo daily medical checks. Al-Shahrani had undergone two surgeries in a week and both were successful, the first of which was an emergency surgery in the pancreas, and the second was for his face bones following the horrific injury during Saudi Arabia"s historic match against Argentina in the World Cup on Tuesday. Al-Shahrani sustained serious injuries after his collision with Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais during their historic 2-1 win over Argentina on Tuesday and had reportedly suffered a fractured jaw, broken left facial bones, teeth damage, and internal bleeding. The incident happened when Al-Owais had come out to grab the ball and accidentally kneed Al-Shahrani to his face. Al-Shahrani was eventually stretchered off and gave the thumbs up to the crowd as he left, but the extent of his injuries was revealed once he got to Hamad Medical City and was advised surgery to stop internal bleeding.
