Dhaka, Ramadan 7, 1434, Jul 16, 2013, SPA - Police say they have opened fire on opposition supporters marching in southwestern Bangladesh during a daylong general strike, killing two. Police official Tajul Islam says the violence took place Tuesday in Satkhira district when hundreds of Jamaat-e-Islami party supporters started attacking police during the march. He says several people have been injured in the melee, according to a report of the Associated Press. The Islamic party was enforcing the strike to protest against the jailing of its former chief Ghulam Azam for his role during the country's independence war against Pakistan in 1971. --SPA 14:26 LOCAL TIME 11:26 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1129747
