Beirut, Rajab 15, 1434, May 25, 2013, SPA - Forces of Bashar Al-Assad regime in Syria shelled a strategic western town on Saturday in their heaviest barrage of a week-long battle to dislodge the Opposition Forces from there, activists said. Saturday's barrage of rockets, mortar rounds and tank shells began after daybreak, said Al-Qusair activist Hadi Abdullah and the Britain-based pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Observatory said at least seven people were killed, according to a report of the Associated Press. The intense shelling could be heard in Lebanon's border areas and in the Syrian city of Homs, some 25 kilometers (15 miles) away. --SPA 14:18 LOCAL TIME 11:18 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1113858
