Brussels, Rabi'II 13, 1435, Feb 13, 2014, SPA -- The European Union on Thursday delayed discussions with Switzerland on new agreements meant to consolidate their relations, amid tensions over a recent anti-immigration vote, according to dpa. Ambassadors from the 28 EU countries were due to approve the start of negotiations with Bern on an umbrella agreement that would govern more than 100 bilateral deals and address issues such as how to settle disputes. It was not immediately clear when the ambassadors would finalize the bloc's negotiating mandate. "We cannot hide that this ... poses problems, serious problems," said Jose Manuel Barroso, European Commission president. "We will not negotiate the principle of free movement," he said. "We are not ready to retie the package, to do a quick patch-up." -- SPA 19:57 LOCAL TIME 16:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1198362
