Berlin, Shawwal 16, 1434, Aug 23, 2013, SPA -- The German election campaign has entered its final four weeks with a strong pickup in the nation's economic growth and a solid set of budget figures bolstering Chancellor Angela Merkel's bid for a third term as head of Europe's biggest economy, dpa reported. Germany posted a budget surplus during the first half of the year as the economy rebounded amid a steady fall in unemployment, rising wages, the end of the eurozone recession and the prospect of another batch of upbeat economic indicators next week. A survey conducted by the pollsters Forschungsgruppe Wahlen and released Friday confirmed Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats and their Bavarian Christian Social Union allies as likely to remain the biggest political bloc in parliament after the election. They were expected to take 41 per cent of the vote, the poll found. -- SPA 18:11 LOCAL TIME 15:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1139428
