Abidjan, Jumada I 21, 1435, Mar 22, 2014, SPA -- Ivory Coast's government Saturday handed over Laurent Gbagbo's former youth leader, Charles Ble Goude, to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Goude has been charged with four counts of crimes against humanity linked to post-election violence that killed at least 3,000 people in 2010 and 2011. "Goude was surrendered based on an ICC arrest warrant from 21 December 2011," government said in a statement, dpa reported. The 42-year-old was arrested in neighbouring Ghana more than a year ago and extradited to Ivory Coast. He will join Gbagbo in The Hague, who also faces four counts of crimes against humanity for sparking armed clashes after refusing to admit defeat in November 2010 elections. The government's decision to surrender Goude comes as a surprise to many Ivorians as authorities previously refused to extradite Gbagbo's wife Simone. -- SPA 18:15 LOCAL TIME 15:15 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1212399
