St Petersburg, Shawwal 30, 1434, Sep 6, 2013, SPA -- The leaders of the globe's 20 biggest economies were in disarray Friday as their summit in St Petersburg descended into a war of words over the widening conflict in Syria, dpa reported. Tensions inside the diverse group - ranging from Saudi Arabia to Argentina - were heightened as the host, Russian President Vladimir Putin, acknowledged that there is little agreement between him and US President Barack Obama, who used the summit to garner support for a military intervention to punish Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for an alleged chemical weapons attack last month. Obama said his talks with Putin were "candid and constructive." In a separate press conference, Obama said he told Putin that he does not expect both will agree on the issue of chemical weapons use. He added that Putin might find it harder to maintain his position after the United Nations publishes its report about the chemical attack. -- SPA 19:55 LOCAL TIME 16:55 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1143578
