Islamabad, Jumada I 27, 1434, Apr 8, 2013, SPA - Pakistan's Supreme Court Monday summoned former president Pervez Musharraf to respond to treason allegations Monday, and barred him from leaving the country. A two-judge bench held initial hearing into petitions seeking criminal proceedings against Musharraf for abrogating the constitution, according to a report of DPA. "The court after hearing has issued an order to Musharraf to appear in person or through his attorney on Tuesday to defend himself," said Hamid Khan, a lawyer for one of the petitioners. The Supreme Court also directed regional police chiefs to ensure that the former President does not leave the country, lawyer Shaikh Ahsanuddin said outside the courtroom. The Sindh provincial court has already barred Musharraf from travelling abroad. --SPA 14:05 LOCAL TIME 11:05 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1096035
