Buenos Aires, Dhu-AlQa'dah 26, 1432, Oct 24, 2011, SPA - Argentine president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner won re-election Sunday, in a landslide victory that left her nearest opponent more than 35 points behind. With 50 per cent of voting stations reporting, Kirchner had 53 per cent of the vote. Her nearest challenger, Hermes Binner, was running a distant second with 17 per cent. With the win, Kirchner rings in a record third consecutive term for the centre-left Peronist Front for Victory (FPV) party, which has held the presidency since Kirchner's late husband and predecessor, Nestor Kirchner, was elected in 2003. In an emotional speech in Buenos Aires, Kirchner dedicated the victory to her husband, who died suddenly in October 2010.
