President Obama Receives Credentials Of New Libyan Ambassador To U.S.

Washington, 12, 1432, Sep 10, 2011, SPA - The White House announced that President Barack Obama received yesterday the credentials of the new Libyan Ambassador to the U.S. as the first ambassador since the fall of Gaddafi regime and control of Tripoli by rebels. A spokesman for the National Security Council Thomas Vitter said "Today (Friday) President Obama approved the credentials of Ali Suleiman Al-Ajili as the first ambassador extraordinary plenipotentiary of Libya, the first representative of Libya's new (National Transitional Council) in the United States and one of the first Libyan diplomats who is accredited at the international level since the fall of Gaddafi. In a statement circulated by the French News Agency 'AFP' Vitter said " The United States congratulates the Libyans for the courage and determination to build a new and democratic future for their country."
