Pakistan: Violence Claims Eight Lives in Karachi City

Karachi, Rabi'II 20, 1434, Mar 2, 2013, SPA - At least eight people were killed in incidents of violence in parts of Karachi, Dawn News reported on Saturday. Three people were gunned down and one person was injured during firing in the city’s Orangi Town. The assailants managed to flee the scene and the bodies and the injured were shifted to a hospital. In another incident, one person was shot dead in Karachi’s residential colony's Green Town area. He was a school teacher. Separately, two people were killed during firing in the city’s Moach Goth area, falling within the limits of the Mauripur police station, whereas, one person was shot dead in Liaquatabad’s B-1 area. Furthermore, a body bearing torture marks was found in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town. The body has not yet been identified. Also, in the city’s New Mianwali Colony in Manghopir, two dacoits and a female bystander were killed during an alleged police encounter. --SPA 11:48 LOCAL TIME 08:48 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1083285
