The Ministers affirmed making necessary contacts with the Syrian government and opposition parties from all strata to start holding a conference for a national and comprehensive dialogue at the headquarters of the Arab League and under its auspices within 15 days from the date of this decision to achieve the legitimate aspirations of the people and the desired change, the statement said. They stressed that the Arab Ministerial Committee shall submit a report to the Council as soon as possible including its accurate assessment of the situation in Syria and suggest the quick steps required bring about security for the Syrian people, and to keep the Council with updated information so as to follow up the situation and developments, the statement added. "The ministers also reaffirmed the Arab position demanding immediate and comprehensive cessation of acts of violence and killing; putting an end to armed aspects; abandoning the security process to avoid more casualties and drifting to the outbreak of a conflict between the components of the Syrian people, and to preserve the civil peace and protect civilians and the unity of the Syrian society," the statement concluded. --SPA 11:22 LOCAL TIME 08:22 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/934804
