New Delhi, Rabi Al-Awwal 18, 1432, Feb 21, 2011, SPA -- The High Court in Mumbai Monday upheld a death sentence for the lone surviving gunman of the November 2008 terrorist attacks in the city. Ajmal Kasab was sentenced to death by a special court on May 6 on charges including mass murder and terrorism. The judges have confirmed the death sentence pronounced by the trial court, saying that Kasab was guilty on all counts. Justices Ranjana Desai and R V More ruled Kasab deserved capital punishment, the NDTV network reported, quoting from their order. Under Indian law, a death sentence has to be confirmed by a High Court, then by the Supreme Court and finally approved by the President. --SPA 12:25 LOCAL TIME 09:25 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/866465
