United Nations, Sha'ban 29, 1431/Aug.10, SPA -- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will meet on Tuesday with the recently appointed members of his probe into Israel's deadly raid on a Gaza-bound humanitarian flotilla on May 31. The four-member panel is tasked with reviewing both Israel and Turkey's investigations into the incident that left nine Turkish citizens dead and coming up with recommendations to avoid similar incidents in the future. "Their main work will be to review and examine the reports of the national investigations and liaise with the domestic authorities," Ban said Monday. "Whatever is needed beyond that, they will have to discuss among themselves in close coordination with the national government authorities." "I am grateful for the spirit of constructive engagement that has made this unprecedented panel possible, Ban said. "I am confident that this initiative will contribute to regional stability." The panel is slated to begin its work on Tuesday and submit its first report by mid-September. --SPA 12:02 LOCAL TIME 09:02 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/809082
