Berlin, Ramadan 11, 1431, Aug 21, SPA -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged Saturday the conflicting parties in the Middle East to reach a compromise. In a statement through her Berlin spokesman, she appealed to the Israelis and Palestinians to negotiate seriously at talks set to begin in Washington on September 02 and to complete the round within the allocated time of one year. Merkel said feasible solutions to the key issues of dispute had already been drafted in earlier rounds of talks, according to a report of DPA. "It was now up to the parties to demonstrate political will power and the necessary willingness to compromise." Senator George Mitchell, the US envoy to the Middle East, had briefed Merkel on Friday about the resumption of the talks and thanked her for her supporting efforts, the spokesman said. Merkel had urged Mitchell to keep up his tireless efforts for peace in the Middle East. --SPA 14:54 LOCAL TIME 11:54 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/811749
