Ankara, March 20, 2010, SPA -- Turkey's ruling AK Party hopes to send its constitutional reform package to parliament on Tuesday, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday. Erdogan's government says the reforms, changing the structure of the Constitutional Court and making it harder to ban political parties, are designed to boost democracy in line with European Union criteria. "I hope that they will present it to the Speaker of Parliament tomorrow, God willing," Erdogan said in a speech to an AK Party meeting in the capital Ankara, according to a report of the Associated Press. Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc had earlier been reported as saying the draft could be presented to the speaker's office at 5 pm (1400 GMT) on Monday. He had said, however, that it could be delayed until Tuesday due to Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. --SPA 13:28 LOCAL TIME 10:28 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/763663
