New Delhi, Rabi Al-Akhir 25, 1432, March 30, 2011, SPA -- Pakistan Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani arrived in India to watch a cricket World Cup semi-final later Wednesday between the two countries in a "cricket diplomacy" initiative aimed at improving bilateral ties. Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh invited Gilani to attend the match after both teams had qualified for the final four. Security agencies made extensive arrangements around the stadium in Mohali, a suburb of north-western Chandigarh city, deploying more than 2,000 policemen, according to a report of DPA. Gilani, accompanied by a 45-member delegation comprising politicians and businessmen, was received by Indian officials at the Chandigarh airport. "This match will build a bridge between both countries," Gilani told reporters in Islamabad before leaving for Chandigarh. "If we can create a better environment, certainly it will do good," he said, thanking Dr. Manmohan Singh for the invitation. Officials confirmed that Singh and Gilani will enter the ground together, meet the players. The leaders were due to have a post-match dinner together, before Gilani flies back to Pakistan, hoping to warm relations between the two countries. --SPA 13:44 LOCAL TIME 10:44 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/878887
