UNITED NATIONS, Shawwal 17, 1431, Sept 26, SPA -- Arab ministers held their annual meeting here late Saturday in the presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, one day before the expiration of an Israeli 10-month freeze on settlement building in the West Bank, and vowed to take a "decisive and unprecedented" decision if Israel fails to extend the freeze, Arab diplomats said. Abbas addressed the General Assembly earlier in the day and insisted that Israel's commitment to stop settlement activities will lead to the "creation of the necessary environment for the success" of the direct talks they eventually agreed to enter recently. He said Israel has two choices to pick from: "Israel must choose between peace and the continuation of settlements." Abbas and the Ministers are in New York this week to participate in the general debate of the General Assembly's 65th session. "If Israel fails to extend the moratorium on settlement activities, due to expire later today (Sunday), the Arab League Follow-Up Committee on the Arab Peace Initiative will meet in Cairo early next week to take a "decisive and unprecedented" decision that will be announced at the Arab League Summit scheduled for October 9th in Cairo, the diplomats warned, according to a report of Kuwait News Agency "KUNA". --SPA 13:43 LOCAL TIME 10:43 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/820685
