Havana, July 29,2010, SPA -- Cuban dissident Guillermo Farinas returned home Thursday after being released from hospital following his more than 4-month-long hunger strike, his wife disclosed. Farinas, 48, had started his hunger strike on February 24 to put pressure on the Cuban government to release political prisoners who were in ill health, dpa reported. He had been in hospital since March 11 and was being fed intravenously. He ended the hunger strike on July 8, the day when Cuba began releasing what is to be a total of 52 political prisoners. Before his strike, one of the political prisoners, Orlando Zapata, died, triggering sharp international criticism of the Cuban leadership.
