Abuja, April 6, 2010, SPA -- Nigeria's acting president has sworn in the oil-rich nation's new Cabinet, which includes a woman overseeing the country's petroleum ministry, AP reported. Acting President Goodluck Jonathan swore in the 38 members Tuesday. He put Diezani Allison-Madueke at the head of the petroleum ministry, a key post for a country that is the No. 3 supplier of crude oil to the U.S. She is a former employee of Royal Dutch Shell PLC, the major force in Nigeria's oil exploration. Jonathan also restored Dora Akunyili as information minister. She circulated a memo to the Cabinet in February calling on it to grant then-Vice President Jonathan powers to act on behalf of President Umaru Yar'Adua. Yar'Adua has been ill and absent from office for months. -- SPA 19:13 LOCAL TIME 16:13 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/766782
