Moscow, Oct 02, SPA --Russia's navy will track shippingin the Black Sea to defend the breakaway Abkhaz region fromGeorgia, Russian news agencies quoted Moscow's Foreign MinisterSergei Lavrov as saying today from the rebel capital, AP reported. Lavrov's warning is a further indication that regionaltensions following last year's five-day war between Moscow andTbilisi are not fading, days after an EU-commissioned reportsaid there was a serious threat of further conflict. "Georgian provocations in neutral waters towards the foreignships which deliver cargo to Abkhazia, humanitarian, economic orany legal cargo are without doubt a serious concern," Lavrov wasquoted as saying by Interfax news agency. Russia has already said it would detain any Georgian shipentering waters claimed by Abkhazia without permission, raisingfears of naval skirmishes in the Black Sea. "We believe that it will be possible to regulate thetracking of cargo which will guarantee their defence fromprovocations," Lavrov said during a visit toAbkhazia's capital, Sukhumi, Interfax reported. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/705228
