PARIS, August 10, SPA -- France's Interior Minister says about 40 young people in a Paris suburb have hurled Molotovcocktails and stones at police and firefighters after ateenager died while fleeing police. Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux says one person fired atpolice officers with a handgun during the rioting. Heappealed for calm Monday following violence in Bagnolet onthe eastern outskirts of Paris, according to a report of The Associated Press. Police say trouble flared Sunday night after an18-year-old riding his motorcycle through a housing projectdied while fleeing a police checkpoint. The man lostcontrol, hit a barrier, and died before reaching hospital.
