Beijing, Oct 09, SPA -- Japan's new prime minister,Yukio Hatoyama, said late today he was not trying to "runaway" from an investigation into a funding scandal that emergedmonths ago, adding that he would cooperate with prosecutors asneeded, according to Reuters. Japanese media said this week prosecutors have begunquestioning people incorrectly listed as donors to Hatoyama inhis funding reports. Hatoyama has admitted an aide filed falsereports, but said the funds came from his personal accounts. "As authorities are in the middle of investigation, itwould be undesirable for me to affect it by comment on thematter," he told reporters in Beijing, where he will hold atrilateral summit with his counterparts from China and SouthKorea on Saturday.
