Kabul, May 10, 2010, SPA -- Floods destroyed hundreds of homes overnight in northeastern Afghanistan, officials said Monday. Nobody was reported killed in the floods, although homes built into the mountainside were destroyed, Baghlan provincial governor Munshi Abdul Majid said. Also Monday, NATO said one of its service members died in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan. The attack happened Sunday in eastern Afghanistan, but no further details were released, according to a report of the Associated Press. The death brings to 12 the number of NATO forces killed this month in Afghanistan. The Interior Ministry also reported that a roadside bomb struck an Afghan police vehicle in Helmand province Sunday, killing four officers. --SPA 13:21 LOCAL TIME 10:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/779061
