Stockholm, Sept 22, SPA --The European Union today expressed its backingfor a "negotiated solution to the current crisis in Honduras" andurged all parties "to refrain from any action that might increasetension and violence.", according to dpa. Sweden, holder of the rotating presidency of the 27-nation bloc,issued the statement on behalf of the EU. The statement was issued after ousted Honduran president ManuelZelaya - who was exiled at the end of June - returned to the CentralAmerican country, reappearing Monday after seeking refuge in theBrazilian embassy. In reaction, a curfew has been imposed in Honduras. The EU said it supported efforts by the Organization of AmericanStates (OAS) "to facilitate dialogue and restoration of theconstitutional order."
