OSH, Kyrgyzstan, June 30, 2010, SPA -- A delegation of U.N. and U.S. officials is visiting southern Kyrgyzstan to assess the needs of some 375,000 people driven from their homes by ethnic violence. A group led by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Eric Schwartz and U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres on Wednesday visited the city of Osh _ the epicenter of the violence. U.N. officials say the immediate threat of food and water shortage has largely abated, and emphasis has shifted to providing shelter to thousands of families that lost their homes. Some have found refuge at relatives' houses, and others in schools and even fields, according to a report of the Associated Press. --SPA 14:21 LOCAL TIME 11:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/797659
