Bangkok, March 31, 2010, SPA -- The Arab group at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) met with IPU Secretary General Anders Johnsson here Wednesday and discussed turning the union to an international body. Member of the Kuwaiti delegation MP Rula Dashti said that the meeting was suggested by head of the Kuwaiti parliamentary caucus and Speaker of Kuwait's National Assembly Jassim Al-Kharafi at the Arab group's meeting, last week. During Wednesday's meeting, delegations of the Arab group and Johnsson discussed the effect of turning the IPU into an international body and related issues, she pointed out. Johnsson stressed that turning the union to an international body would render it more effective, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
