Geneva, March 09, 2010, SPA -- A U.S. official says American and Russian negotiators have resumed talks to reduce their nuclear weapons arsenals. U.S. mission spokesman Michael Parmly says the delegations were meeting Tuesday in Geneva. The most recent round of negotiations ended last week without a deal. The two powers are trying to find a successor to the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, which expired on Dec. 5. It limited how many nuclear warheads and carrier systems each side could deploy. Parmly declined to say Tuesday when the treaty might be ready, according to a report of the Associated Press. He says Washington is «committed to concluding negotiations.» --SPA 14:50 LOCAL TIME 11:50 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/756687
