Cairo, June 23, SPA -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Cairo Tuesday for a two-day visit, the first stop on an African tour that will take him to Nigeria, Namibia and Angola. Medvedev was expected to meet with his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak, with the focus to be on ways to boost economic and trade relations between the two countries. Both presidents will also witness the signing ceremony of fiveagreements which would move bilateral relations to the level ofstrategic partnership, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in astatement ahead of the visit. The agreements will cover cooperation in media, combating drugs, justice, national archives and radio and TV, according to a report carried today by The German News Agency "DPA". Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit described the visit as "aremarkable shift in the history of bilateral relations between bothcountries." As a member of the Middle East quartet, which also includes theUS, the UN and the European Union, the Russian president will alsodiscuss means to revive the Middle East peace process.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/677540
