Nairobi, August 06, SPA -- US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday said she planned to push South Africa to do more to counter what she called the "negative effects" of President Robert Mugabe on the reform process in Zimbabwe, according to dpa. Mugabe's Zanu-PF and Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for DemocraticChange (MDC) struck a deal in February to share power for the firsttime, but the MDC accuses Mugabe of not fulfilling his end of thebargain. "I intend to speak not only with President Zuma but other membersof his government about what more ... can be done to strengthen thereform movement inside Zimbabwe ... and try to use its (SouthAfrica's) influence to mitigate against the negative effects of thecontinuing presidency of President Mugabe," Clinton told journalistsin the Kenyan capital Nairobi. New South African President Jacob Zuma recently pledged tointercede with Mugabe to resolve the power-sharing issues, but the USwants to see stronger action, according to dpa.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/690681
