Jordan's King, Sarkozy discuss two-state solution

Amman, August 19, SPA -- Jordan's King Abdullah II met Tuesday with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at his summer residence in southern France to discuss the prospects of re-launching "serious" negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. The two leaders discussed "efforts underway to re-launch serious and effective negotiations with a view to resolving thePalestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state visionwithin a regional perspective that leads to comprehensive and durable peace in the region," a royal court statement released in Amman was quoted as saying by DPA. King Abdullah stressed the need for "collaboration of world efforts to establish peace in the Middle East in accordance with the UN resolutions and the Arab peace initiative, which represents anunprecedented opportunity for achieving regional peace," thestatement said.
