NEW DELHI, May 19, SPA -- India test-fired a nuclear-capablemissile on Tuesday with a range of up to 1,860 miles (3,000kilometers), a defense ministry official said. The surface-to-surface «Agni-II» (Fire) missile wasfired from Wheelers Island in the eastern state of Orissaas a trial by the army, the official said on condition ofanonymity in line with ministry rules. The area is 100miles (160 kilometers) north of Bhubneshwar, the capitalof Orissa state.
