Khartoum, March 05, SPA --A crowd of several thousand supporters rallied inthe Sudan capital Khartoum today to express solidarity withPresident Omar al-Bashir, a day after the International CriminalCourt issued an arrest warrant against him for alleged war crimes andcrimes against humanity, according to dpa. An aid worker in Khartoum, speaking to Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpaon condition of anonymity, said that "hundreds of thousands" weredemonstrating in support of al-Bashir on the streets of the capitaltoday morning. Al-Bashir earlier told the Sudanese Cabinet that the Netherlands-based court warrant was "not only against Sudan, but against allcountries that reject the policy of dictation." "Some countries are trying to control the resources of thecontinent," he said. Al-Bashir said that Sudan would respond to Wednesday's arrestwarrant "wisely" and would not take any decision that would endangerpeace talks between the government and rebel groups in Darfur. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/641263
