Geneva, Sept 24, SPA -- Swiss lawmakers have quashed plans tocontribute troops to a European Union anti-piracy missionoff the coast of Somalia, according to AP. The 102-81 vote in parliament against the deployment ontoday reflected widespread concern that sending troopswould violate Switzerland's long-standing neutrality. The coalition government had argued for joining the EUmission, saying Switzerland should do its part to protectSwiss cargo ships and U.N. aid deliveries.
