BEIRUT, April 13, SPA -- Gunmen sprayed a Lebanese army unit onMonday with bullets and rocket-propelled grenades ineastern Lebanon, killing four soldiers, said the state newsagency. The ambush on a major road near the town of Rayak comesafter a recent push by Lebanese troops to crack down on thedrug trade in the Bekaa Valley and carried the hallmarks ofa revenge attack by clansmen, Associated Press reported. Authorities said recently the army launched a campaign in thearea, targeting members of a powerful clan.
