ISLAMABAD, February 24, SPA -- Taliban indefinitely extended acease-fire Tuesday in a northwestern Pakistani valley, granting more time for peace talks. Troops and insurgents have observed a truce in the Swatvalley since Feb. 15, when Pakistani authorities offered tointroduce Islamic law in the region if militants lay downtheir arms. A cleric is negotiating a possible deal on behalf of the government. The Taliban cease-fire was due to expire on Wednesday, butspokesman Muslim Khan said insurgent leaders decided toextend it «for an indefinite period.» «From our side, there will be no hostility against thegovernment and the army, and we expect the same fromthem,» Khan told The Associated Press.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/638367
