PESHAWAR, Pakistan, March 27, SPA -- A suicide bomber blew himself upin a mosque packed with hundreds of worshippers for Fridayprayers in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least 48people and injuring scores more, AP quoted officials as saying. The blast badly damaged the mosque in Jamrud, a town nearthe Afghan border in an area beset by Taliban attacks aswell as vicious feuds between rival tribes and militantgroups. Authorities did not immediately speculate on amotive. Television footage showed scores residents and policeofficers digging frantically through the ruins of thewhite-walled mosque, whose roof appeared to have caved in.
