DAMASCUS, January 29, SPA -- Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad received a telephone call from his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy for the second time this week, during which they discussed developments in Gaza Strip after the Israeli aggression, Syrian News Agency (SANA) said Thursday. The framework of Wednesday's call comes within the coordination between the two countries as regards the Palestinian dossier. Whereas Thursday's call focused on ways out of the crisis after the Israeli attacks on Gaza, establishing the basis of a permanent solution to the conflict, there was "a need to continue the contacts and coordination between the two countries to follow up on these developments," Sana said. The call comes after Al-Assad held talks with Sarkozy's envoy Philippe Marini in Damascus on stance that Europe and the world have to react to the Israeli crimes, opening the crossings, and removing the imposed siege on Gaza. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/630765
