Washington, February 10, SPA -- The top U.S. military officer said Monday that no more than about 30,000 additional soldiers will be deployed to Afghanistan as the U.S. expands its military forces there. Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Michael Mullen also called U.S. efforts in Iraq successful, though he added “we’re not done.” Mullen was speaking to soldiers and military spouses at Fort Drum, New York, and he sought to improve morale and calm concerns at the Army base that has seen constant deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan over the past eight years.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/634154
