Death toll in Mumbai attacks reaches 195

MUMBAI, India, November 29, SPA -- Officials say the death toll in theterrorist attacks on Mumbai has risen to 195 as more bodieshave been discovered after commandos ended the siege on aluxury hotel. Shantaram Jadhav, an official at Mumbai's disaster controloffice, says 195 people have been killed and 295 wounded. Jadhav says «the death toll is likely to rise becausethere are still bodies in our vans that are being broughtinto hospitals.» Indian commandos killed the last remaining gunmen holed upat a luxury Mumbai hotel Saturday, ending a 60-hour rampage. Mumbai Police Chief Hasan Ghafoor told The AssociatedPress that «The Taj operation is over. The last twoterrorist holed up there have been killed.» This ends one of the most devastating attacks to hitIndia. The violence started Wednesday when assailantsattacked 10 sites across Mumbai, India's financial capital. Authorities are working to find out who was behind theattacks.
