NEW DELHI, January 30, SPA -- A senior Pakistani diplomat said theMumbai attacks were not planned in Pakistan and suggestedFriday that India's evidence as regards the deadly siege could be fabricated, Associated Press reported. The comments from Wajid Shamsul Hasan, Pakistan's highcommissioner to Britain, were the first from a seniorPakistani official since India handed over a dossier ofevidence earlier this month that New Delhi said proved theNovember siege that left 164 dead had been plotted fromPakistan. «Pakistani territory was not used so far as theinvestigators have made their conclusions,» Hasan toldIndia's NDTV news channel in an interview. «It could havebeen some other place.» Pakistan has not yet officially responded to the dossier, but Hasan indicated that Pakistan did not accept theevidence. «Well, it could be fabricated,» he said. Referring toIndia, he added, «You took 45 days to give that sort ofevidence although you started blaming Pakistan from dayone.» Hasan said Pakistani authorities would undertake a seriousinvestigation into the attacks. «We are not going to do any whitewashing business. Webelieve in going after facts. Our findings will beacceptable to the world,» he said. «We will try tosatisfy India with our findings. We are addressing theconcerns of the world, not just India.» Hasan said he was confident the international communitywould accept Pakistan's findings.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/630943
